man, I loved Death Note, and it let me down so bad by never even trying to be as deep as it was dark.
Recently on fanficrants I saw a post from a Death note fan making a post chiding Death Note ff.net authors for "not even attempting to capture the depth of philosophy, deep moralistic commentary on the nature of justice and killing that defines the series."
