Starship Operators 7 & 8
Apr. 1st, 2005 10:43 amep. 7: Shinon is smarter than everybody else on this show, except possibly Yuki and his AI. It's a good thing, too, otherwise everybody'd probably be dead by now.
ep. 8: Muah. Just when I was afraid my initial belief that this is a scathing satire was completely off, the edge returns. The producer is an utter, utter bastard, the Kingdom captain gets all huffy because the people he's planning to kill nicknamed his ship "The Hedgehog," and I'm pretty sure the title, "Stardust Memory" is a reference to Gundam.
What I really want to know is, how the hell do they broadcast this stuff live from the ship to the entire galaxy? If the Kingdom is really worried about PR, why can't they just jam the broadcast, or destroy the broadcast apparatus? How does Dita communicate with Peter in real time? Do they have FTL communication devices? And where exactly is Galaxy Network based? How do they avoid being shut down by The Kingdom?
There's something...almost poignant in the contrast between Shinon's deadly seriousness and Peter's declaration that he doesn't care who wins, as long as the battle is hot. ::hates::
