this has a lot to do with why I'm poor
Dec. 21st, 2005 07:55 pmShoujo manga is dangerously addictive.
I recently tore through the two latest volumes of Tramps Like Us, five volumes of Othello, volume sixteen of Fushigi Yugi, and I was just about reduced to eyeing W Juliet again, even though I'm somewhat underwhelmed by it, when I remembered that the manga-ka of Othello has an older title, Guru Guru Pon-Chan, and Nodame Cantabile is a josei title, right?
So Guru Guru has absolutely the most brain-shattering premise for a shoujo manga ever: cute little puppy transforms into a human girl, tries to learn human customs, falls in love with a human boy. I'm sorry, Kawcrow, but this knocks MeriPuri clear out of the water--the only way this could be any weirder is if she just stayed a dog for the whole thing.
Othello is a hoot, though. I highly recommend it.
